Difference between Online Media and Other Media.

A Web site demands something different which differ in writing style and different elements. Writing for the Web is not the same as for broadcast or print, however, the content mirrors the print or broadcast copy. In addition, online media is fast and it is accessible at anytime and anywhere.
Furthermore, in terms of audience, online media may have larger audience since internet can be accessed worldwide. Web users expect updated content from news sites, in which the reporters have to update their stories for the next day’s Web site.
In addition, the similarities between print and online media are that, both are using the same structure which is the inverted pyramid. The inverted pyramid is a favored form for Web stories because the main idea is in the lead of first few paragraphs.
Online readers scan text rather than read every word. That is the reason why many news sites offer printer-friendly version for people who want to read thoroughly. Print and online media both can use the combination of text and still images. However, online media has advantages on this as it is online and the images can be updated also add on videos and moving images as well.
In terms of the immediacy in producing news, online media can update the audience with information as soon as it is available for the audience. For example, breaking news on certain issues, reporters can update in online news as nowadays most people are using smart phones that can easily accessed to the internet in a short period of time.
The newspaper, by the time it arrived at its destination was often tattered and torn and parts of it were unreadable. Compare that now to the lightening speed news is heard around the world and we see that speed of the news is not necessarily more truthful than it was then. It still gets to us today tattered and torn. More people working on the same topic often so confuses and weakens it, in effect, it may be no more viable than when it arrived on a slower journey.
Besides that, one other advantage is that online media does not cost anything to have it. It can just be downloaded and can be viewed at any time unlike printed version, which has cost to earn it.
As conclusion, both online media and print media have its own advantages and disadvantages. Print media is the old version of spreading information and the online media is the up-to-date version of giving out news and information. Both are equally important based on different audience, on how they prefer to get the updated news. In my point of view, the online version is accessible by everyone who uses smart phones and have unlimited internet access, however, the printed version of media will always have and it will always be one of the good source to get information and current issues in all over the country.
